Derrick Murphy joined TNG Legal Services MDP as an articled student in September, 2018.
Originally from Langley, Derrick joined TNG Legal Services MDP as a summer student in May of 2017. He graduated from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC with a Juris Doctor and a specialization in Aboriginal law.
Previously, Derrick has served as an executive and director for the Law Student’s Legal Advice Program and has experience representing clients in the provincial court. He also served as the 40th Executive Editor for the Law Student’s Legal Advice Manual – BC’s largest annually-updated law text for every day legal problems. While attending UBC, he received the Thorsteinsson’s Prize in Taxation in recognition of academic achievement in tax law.
As an articled student, Derrick is able to provide most legal services a lawyer can offer under the supervision of his principal lawyer Jaime M. Boyle.
Derrick is happy to help with any of your legal needs, and is especially fond of estate planning and wealth preservation. He has taken specialized courses in tax planning. Derrick also enjoys opportunities to work with Indigenous clients and their unique legal needs.
In his spare time, Derrick enjoys gardening, curling and hiking.
